Melomane is an interactive map of tens of thousands of tracks, with labels and steering controls that do not fit on a phone. Open it on a tablet, laptop or desktop (an unfolded foldable works too).
A map of music, by how it is listened to and what it is made of
Melomane is an interactive map of … tracks. Three models learn from the same tracks in the same way and differ only in what they are allowed to read. Pick any track to see its neighbours in each model, then steer the query toward a genre or an emergent direction.
Music recommenders are black boxes: they tell you what to play next, never why. Melomane makes that geometry inspectable, so you can see whether two tracks sit together because people play them together or because of what they are made of.
Learned only from listening sessions: two tracks are close when the same people play them in the same sitting.
Learned only from measured audio and lyric features (timbre, rhythm, harmony, loudness, lyric themes), with no listening data at all.
Listening sessions and measured features together, with listening weighted ten to one.
